Circa 1872, the original
home of the Brenham Opera House has been a cornerstone
adjacent to the courthouse on The Square in Downtown
Brenham. The current proprietor discovered the building
in 1994 and began the tedious process of uncovering the
building’s amazing personality and elegant history. She
has said that the original opera house had three stories
with the first floor being a general store and the opera
house in the second floor. The original architecture was
revealed by removing a previous renovation of sheetrock
and paneling only to reveal the outstanding arches of
windows and doorways. For more than twenty years, the
building has operated as Today and Yesterday, selling a
multitude of unique collections and rare antiques.
